What Is a Mini Arm Lift?

The sagging of the back and inner parts of the upper arm usually occurs with fat deposits and skin sagging. The skin and subcutaneous tissue in this area are looser. Generally, factors such as genetic predisposition, aging, weight gain and loss, sun exposure, gravity increase the loosening of the skin and subcutaneous tissue and cause sagging. Medical treatments and plastic surgery offer many solutions to arm sagging. The most effective of these is arm lift surgery.

A mini arm lift surgery is generally indicated in people who have a fattening problem in the arm area if this is accompanied by mild to moderate skin laxity. The surgery is usually combined with liposuction. After liposuction is performed on the upper arms, the remaining excess skin on the arms is corrected with a mini arm lift.

The operation is performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 2-3 hours. During the surgery, an incision is made under the armpit. Once the excess skin and fat are removed, the incision is closed as invisibly as possible. Since the incision remains in the armpit, patients don’t have to worry about the appearance of the scar. The scar, which may be red due to being closed with tapes at first, becomes gradually invisible.

What to Expect during Recovery?

Expect some swelling, bruising, and soreness in the incision sites after the mini arm lift surgery. These will be reduced as much as possible with the pain killers and medications you will be given after the operation. You can also use ice packs to minimize the swelling.

Patients are usually discharged within the same day of the surgery after our team monitors their general condition.  If no problem is encountered, we send our patients home after informing them to keep their wounds clean and how to change their dressings. The biggest mistake patients can make after mini arm lift surgery is to move their arms too early. You are not supposed to raise your arms or lift weights for the first month. Make sure you have someone help you with your household chores and daily routines during the first week. After the first 10 days, you can start to do light work on your own, take small walks and return to your job if you are working at a desk job that will not tire you. But remember that you should stay away from heavy physical activities for at least 1 month.

After the mini arm lift surgery, you will be able to wear the clothes you want with the peace of mind without worrying about your flabby arms. You can contact us right now for a free consultation with Plastic Surgeon Baran Kul if you want to increase your self-confidence by having toned upper arms.
